Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint TP-102 Tripod with A02 Ball Head, 3 Section Leg Set,:

When i first got the tripod it was abit wobbly.. ballhead needed tightening with a screwdriver. And its not as smooth as my cheaper Manfrotto ballhead.
Its almost too light to be stable.. but it has a hook where i can hang a sandbag or something for added stability.
Overall, for the money it can pass.. no "real" issues so far other than the tilt smoothness of the ballhead

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint TP-102 Tripod with A02 Ball Head, 3 Section Leg Set,:

This feels like a well built tripod when you take it out of the box...BUT, It began to fall apart within 3 days. I bought this for a 2 week photo trip to the California desert. It was brand new when I arrived. On day 3 one of the legs fell out! I had to go buy glue and duct tape to fix my 3 day old 100 dollar triopd! The inner locking mechanism in the ball head is a plastic piece that slides out of place and into the notch for vertical shots. Everytime I want to take a vertical shot, I have to push this piece back in place with my finger nail, while wasting precious light. The swivel function never fully tightens and will always move a few millimeters. The legs became extremely loose within a few days and need to be tightened frequently. (the tripod does come with a little wrench for that.) So after 2 weeks of shooting, this thing could be considered garbage. It got me some pretty great shots, but was extremely frustrating to use. I'll go back to using my Slik Mini tripod. At [$] it was the best value I've ever got out of a tripod. Works for about 80 percent of my work too.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint TP-102 Tripod with A02 Ball Head, 3 Section Leg Set,:

This is a great tripod especially for amatuers or those who would only use a tripod a small percentage of the time. The construction is very solid and the price is dirt cheap compared to higher end tripods. If you RELY on a tripod majority of the time then you might want to invest in a higher end lightweight tripod, if for the occassional self portrait or even studio portraits where you dont need to lug this around then this will suffice. Solid tripod w/ ball head for $100? What a steal.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint TP-102 Tripod with A02 Ball Head, 3 Section Leg Set,:

I found this tripod to be very stable and the ball head is very solid. I especially like like the ability to adjust the legs indepently, great for uneven ground, plus a built in bubble level is very nice. I'm not to sure what the compass is for but the panorama scale is convenient. Perhaps the tripod is a bit on the heavy side but I would rather have a solid platform. The case is also exceptionally nice. For [$] this is a great buy!

After a 20 year hiatus from photography and now retired I bought a used Nikon P90 which led to a Pentax DSLR which led to other stuff including a tripod. Sticker shock is the norm from the cost of bananas on up. I was very skeptical about buying a tripod for [$] when years ago my old Star-D cost nearly that much. Well I read the reviews and took a chance. I am exceptionly pleased with this product. OK, so it's a bit on the heavy side but that's the trade off for a solid platform. And the price, great!

Since I opened the box, I was very impress by the sturdiness and easy to use of the tripod and all the features. I'm been using it for events at the church. If you don't care about using some muscle to carry around, thats the perfect one. Adorama was the only store to have such a deal.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint TP-102 Tripod with A02 Ball Head, 3 Section Leg Set,:

Yes, this tripod is heavy. But it's manageable and would probably support anything short of a machine gun! I took some moonlight shots last night in 30mph wind with no problem and no anchor weight. This thing is solid. And it adds a bit of courage when shooting dangerous wildlife (or in seedy urban areas); I would NOT want to get hit by this thing! There should be no problem mounting a telescope, long lens or whatever you want to. I just wish they sold additional quick release plates, as it is nice to keep one with the pod and one with the camera. Anyway, just buy and enjoy it!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint TP-102 Tripod with A02 Ball Head, 3 Section Leg Set,:

This is a very sturdy build tripod. This is my first tripod that has a ball head vs pan and I love it. It's a little heavy for long hikes. But the most disappointing thing is the screw keep falling out the bottom of the ball head. Also the camera mount area is loose but the screw is so tight I stripped the inside of it trying to tighten it up.

WOW! I never expected so much for the money. The case is well made and holds the legs and ball head easily with both a handle and shoulder strap. I was impressed before I saw the tripod. The tripod is solid, and well designed. The carbon fiber construction is not as heavy as you would expect for so sturdy a unit. The quick release head is strong and you don't have to worry about the camera breaking loose. It does everything I need. All around the best value I could have selected.

A little but too heavy duty for my main needs but nice to know I can support heavier equipment. I just have a 30D w/ Tamron 17-50 but this thing easily supports 200mm+ lenses and larger cameras. Overall I'm happy, its easy to extend the legs and the ballhead works really smooth.

This is a WONDERFUL tripod! I have been looking for a very long time for one that does what I wanted it to do! It is very sturdy and that is or was my number 1 priority when buying a new one! It is extremely easy to turn your camera vertical and it keeps the camera very straight and level.
