Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
These leggs claim to hold 6.5 Lbs, but when put to the test they kept collapsing my camera by sliding the leggs down and out from the weight which by the way is not even 4 Lbs with the lens attached and it is very unstable causing the camera to tip easy, so if you have this, hold your camera and don't trust it by leaving it. I think I should have got the one that can hold 11 Lbs instead. It didn't seem to grip all that good either around my coffee table leg, it could not grip tight enough and I tightened it has tight as I could, but it kept sliding down to the floor. I decided to keep it and not return it, because it does work good for attaching my flash to it when using wireless remote, I can place it under a log outside or in another room when shooting interiors from a counter top or on the floor hiding it. So it has it's uses....I guess after all.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
instead of carrying big heavy tripod around, this one is well worth it!!! I call this my little spidy, able to hold $2600 worth of camera gear (Canon 7D w/grip, 17-40L) this little tripod can go anywhere you like. At first i was afraid it wouldn't hold up the weight of the camera but it actually did... It did take time to get use to it and to adjust the footing to get the right angle, but indeed its well worth it!! its small and light, that i'm able to clip it around my bag and carry it around, instead of using my other shoulder to lunged around heavy tripods. Over all i would recommend this to anyone that travel...

With the ball head that I added to it, it is totally functional and you can't ask for more than that.

Not useful without a swivel mount. The combination of the two work great and should be sold as a pair, not seperately.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
I've been using this with a Manfrotto ball head with a Canon Rebel XSI and several lenses, and it's been a sturdy, reliable, and very flexible workhorse. It fits easily in my daypack and sets up in seconds. I'm impressed with the stability and ease of use. I can't wait to take it out hiking during the upcoming Appalachian wildflower season.

I decided to give this thing a try after all the positive reviews, but after a couple of uses one of the legs crack. This is not a good product for realistic situations. Is more hype that substance.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
For trips that require some camera support, but not the very heavy tripod. All that's needed is a flat
surface, or secure legs around a railing, etc.
Amazing gripping power when used in this manner.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
One thing to consider, before you buy: if you don't get a separate tripod head for the camera you're using, you'll have to mount it directly on the tripod mount screw, which is fixed, not like the other gorillas, i.e. you cannot rotate the camera, tilt it up/down, unless you twist the legs of the tripod.
So for a complete setup, in order to have the tripod as a stable, fixed base, you'll need a separate mount, to use the camera as with classic tripods.
Other than that, I used it mainly for a TZ5 (which is 240g btw), and also for a D70 with 18-70 (~2lbs). It can take a lot more weight, if needed.

Get a nice ball head & quick release to go with this product...it will make for an easier switch from long to wide & v.v. Haven't yet tried the spike feet accessory.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
This little 'pod is incredibly flexible, easy to carry, and a snap to use: screw it into the threaded socket on the bottom of your camera, and it becomes a very steady support. You'll be able to set your camera on any surface, flat or uneven, and get sharp shots. Vibration reduction lenses work, no doubt, but a solid mini tripod like this one will get you sharp images where VR just can't go (1/2 second and slower.) The heaviest lens I put on it was a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 on a D200. That's not light, but the Gorillapod didn't have a problem. Warmly recommended: it just does a brilliant job without the weight and hassle of a real full-size tripod.

Bought this as a gift for a relative who has a Canon Digi SLR as well as a new G10, and she loves it. A great tripod for winging it, like setting up on uneven terrain.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
After looking at the photos of this tripod I was a bit skeptical to hang a $1K plus camera on it. Experimentaion at home has proved that it holds on and does not relax with time. A great carry-on item and provides much flexibility in photographing various subjects. I'm looking forward to taking it on a cruise this summer.

Comments about Joby Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod Zoom / Grip for Digital SLR Cameras with long telephoto lenes weighing up to 6.5 Lbs.:
I wasn't very pleased with the product the day I purchased it. I had difficulties getting it to hold securely around various things along the street. I think it will work better once I have some more time to play around with it. As for being a basic tripod, it works flawlessly. I have used it with a Nikon D80 and 18-200 VR lense.
