Comments about Slik Slik Sprint Tripod - Gun Metal Black Finish - with Ball Head & Case:
This tripod is just perfect for light digital cameras, for most non-SLR rollfilm cameras, and and for SLRs with mirror lock-up. I shopped extensively and found that this model extends to a greater height than any other lightweight tripods, is lighter than most, and the easy-to-use ball head avoids the space-consuming two-handle heads more useful for video than still photography with small cameras (though the two-handle, two-axis heads on large tripods have their place in using some very large still cameras). Purchasing the tripod just six weeks ago, I used it immediately for a month in Europe, mostly shooting more than 700 long exposures of the interiors of about 30 buildings, and found using, carrying and packing the tripod so much easier than any of my eight larger and heavier tripods which, though very fine, are vastly over-the-top for most any lightweight digital camera other than a digital SLR in which the mirror slightly vibrates the camera at the time of exposure, thus requiring a heavier tripod to hold the SLR steady. I prefer this model to the similar "pro" version, which is a bit bulkier and which includes just one or two features that most of us don't need or want. My fine old, classy, Gitzo tripod of similar size and seven times the price weighs four times as much and is not as easy to use, nor is it any steadier. Two light but larger, cheap, tripods I own are not nearly as easy to use, and they are not as stable. Thanks, SLIK, for making this fine tripod!
