This reasonable cost tripod will work well in almost all situations. A little too bulky, heavy for hiking & extended carry use. 3-way head has smooth movement and lock-downs, easy to make fine adjustments, although "(Fluid/3-way) Head" is a bit of an over statement. This tripod is sturdy enough that it can likely support somewhat over the stated 4 lbs, maybe up to 6.

I got this partly because of price but I was surprised how good quality it was as well. It is lightweight and very stable for my purposes and shrinks down small enough to carry easily.

I would definitely recommend this as a first time tripod.

Bought this tripod for my wife to use, she needed something light weight but sturdy. The Slik 9000
fit the bill perfectly and also her budget.I use
a much higher end tripod and I have to admit this little guy stands up right next to it and does her a fine job.
