When buying a tripod, the general rule is that you get what you pay for. Everyone knows the big dogs like Manfrotto or Slik, but for some of us, hundreds of dollars is just not a realistic price for our range. If that's you, then this tripod is for you.

The Sunpak 4300B is very easy to use. The legs unfold quickly with no hassle, and the ballhead is simple enough. I use this with a Canon Rebel XSi, and it is plenty sturdy with mid-range zoom lenses. I don't have a long telescopic to test with, but I'm fairly certain it'll hold.

The tripod comes with two quick release plates, so that you don't need to screw in your camera every time. The plates were a tad confusing on first use, but you get used to them rather quickly.

The tripod is not a compact one-measuring at just over 21", you won't be fitting this in a typical backpack, so you'll have to invest in a tripod bag.

The build quality is just as the box describes- medium duty for general purpose. The legs feel a little light, but they feel sturdy even without the spiked feet (which are included). The ball head still holds after about a month of use, and it's survived a drop or two.

If you're looking for a tripod, don't want to deal with dirt cheap trash, and can't exactly spend a ton of money, then this is in the market for you. Highly recommended.

After awhile the ball head tends to drift making adjustments a pain. But its not really a problem if you mostly shoot horizontally.

I'm a photography student and it works really well for what i am using it for. folds up and slides into the elastic supports on my bag so i can walk around with it on my backpack and comes with two quick releases. the head holds my canon t90 pretty well, which is a pretty heavy SLR. when fully extended it is a little flimsy, but just add a little weight to the support hook and you should be fine 8).

I use my Sunpak 4300 for out door shoots mostly. It is a well thought out Tripod and has no problem performing under harsh conditions. And I am not even scraping rust off the joints a few days later. GOOD WORK!!! Now if you could only make it a bit taller for we who are over 6'6. :-)

I am a new free lance photographer of only a few years. My last tripod was a bit short,so I did not use it much. But now that I have a good one I will start using it more. It's nice to have a tripod your own height.I can actually look up through the camera now for great sky shots.
