I have a new generation, small camcorder. I take it with me to do interviews when I travel. I can set the tripod on a table or counter and have the perfect mount.

It is new, so I can't vouch for its longevity, but it looks and feels sturdy

Works well with an slr if you have a small lens. Perfect for a point and shoot camera. Really easy to use, and pretty compact. It is a little chuncky, but definately smaller than my regular tripod.
