This is a great Tripod--the mounting screw is either 3/8's or 1/20. The center column can be removed for getting low to the ground and the legs have 3 angle settings. Everything was as advertised.. I mounted my 100-400mmL to give a real load test and it's stable. The carry bag is rugged and very good at the protecting the Tripod. I highly recommend this Tripod.

This Tripod works as advertised--it gets low when you remove the center post and is very stable. I put my 100-400mm L on it and had no problems. I highly recommend this Tripod.

This is an excellent tripod--it gets down for the low shots and stands up at just the right hight for me--I'm 5'10". I've been using it for mostly macro and decided to load test it with my 100-400L tonight. Very impressive--stability with a heavy lens. Yes, I would buy this again. If you need a tripod with great features--very stable (hook on bottom of center column holds your bag for added stability, gets lower for flower and insect macro's, and just feels good to use--this is worth buying.

Very nice tripod and an excellent value for the money. The legs are rather stiff and don't extend easily, but I suspect that may get better with use. Can be used as a monopod with the legs folded. I wish that they had made the nice carrying bag just a bit longer so it could accommodate the tripod with a small ball head attached.

I have used the tripod for group pictures, landscape, and some macro photography. It is light and easy to use. The tripod is of excellent construction and exceeds all of my expectations. It performs very well for all of my needs.

I am using this tripod with a spotting scope. Its light weight is a big plus. Using it with a Flashpoint F9 ball head. Quick release plate makes it possible to switch to a camera quite quickly to get a photo of the wildlife I am watching.

The head on the tripod is a bit weak and a little hard to get used to but the body is so much like Gitzo that I was quite impressed. I really like the center column that can unscrew when you get closer to the ground. Great feature!

having owned numerous good and bad 'pods over the last 40 years, i can say this would be a "best-buy" if designed correctly.each leg angle is adjustable and is suppose to lock in place using sliding stops (like a gitzo). two of the three just barely made contact so that on both occasions i've used it, a lock slipped and the tripod started to fall over. i was lucky and caught it each time[...] so i modified it myself. two hours of taking it apart and grinding on each lock, i now have a fantastic small/light/inexpensive 'pod i truly enjoy. that is why i gave it any stars at all.if you're good with hand tools, this might be a fine deal for you, but let the buyer beware.

It's hard to believe the previous reviewers and I are on the same planet. Perhaps my point of reference will explain it.I purchased (and immediately returned) the Flashpoint F2127, intended as a replacement for an Amvona Dynatran ATF CF-92 purchased new by bidding on [...] (that's how they sold them) for a comparable price several years ago. The reason for my purchase was to get get rid of the twist lock (which I dislike) leg locks on the Dynatran in favor of the flip lock legs available from Adorama. I naively assumed a reasonable equivalence - both are knockoffs of the expensive carbon fiber tripods, with the sweetener that Adorama is a respected retailer. All I can say is that the Flashpoint was flimsy and frail. One of the leg segments did not slide freely. Just what you'd expect in a lowest end knockoff. A fine example what remains after every possible cent has been wrung out of the manufacturing cost. The comparison to Amvona may be a bum rap. I can't seem to find them these days. Maybe they went under because they underpriced their products. The only reason I can see to buy the Flashpoint would be to impress your friends with your cool carbon fiber tripod. Just don't carry it anyplace, throw it in the back seat of your car, or use it to take a picture. You can get a lot more for less money in an aluminum tripod.

This is so much lighter than my other one, now I'll carry my tripod much more often.
I have not actually used it as of yet, because I have not needed to. I have however taken it with me & tested it out. At first when I tried to load my camera onto it, I couldn't, then I figured out that the screw in the little connector for the camera was larger than the hole in my camera.
I didn't panic, I just figured that probably it came in 2 sizes, if you look at the instruction paper you will see that the tip on one end is smaller, you don't really notice this at first,(instruction #1) so I took it out of the loading plate, took the screw out, and sure enough, the other end was a smaller sized screw.
I just flipped it over screwed it back in, and tried mounting my camera, all was good. This was my Canon xsi 450D Rebel.
I found no place where it tells you that the screw comes in 2 sizes. I actually think that this is a good thing, maybe some one has a camera with a larger mounting hole (or whatever it is called).
I can't wait to show it off to my photo buddy.
I also love the way that it looks, plus the fact that it comes in its own llittle carrying case. This is really cool.
My other tripod has no carrying case, another reason that I didn't want to carry it with me.
This case can be carried over the shoulder, or with the little hand straps, by hand. I put one of those seat belt pads on mine, to pad it a little while carrying it over the shoulder. Oh, and the little case has enough room to stick my extra battery.
I'm loving it.

This is a great, sturdy tripod[...] it turned out to be exactly what my camera, the Nikon D90 needed! I am currently using it for night/sunset photography and slow shutter speed photos but hope to use it much more as I learn more about my camera features.
