Upgraded from a smaller SLIK that was not carbon fiber. The fact that you can 'unhinge' the legs to get this tripod VERY low to the ground is a huge plus. The cap on the center tube cracked, but tripod still functions fine. I have a heavier ball head on this (Manfrotto 4880RC) and with my setup (Rebel xsi, battery grip and 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens) the tripod is still very stable.

This is the tripod you don't leave at home. The quality is excellent for the price. Time will tell if it lasts as long as my Gitzo. I use a Giottos ball head with it and it can support a D700 with lighter lenses. Gusty wind can be a problem. Otherwise, it's indispensable for long exposures, panos and HDR shooting.

Used with Canon Rebel Xsi and Canon 24-105mm,70-300mm Do and Canon 10-22mm lenses, Canon Speedlite430 and Manfrotto484RC2 head. Needed light weight, small size to fit inside the Tamrac Aero80 Camera backpack. The SLIK 613CF and another brand CF monopod both fit inside the computer compartment of the Tamrac Aero80. Easy to carry, easy to set up and fulfills my needs to take a tripod on my adventure travels. A completely satisfied hobby photographer.

First off, I am a proud owner of a manbag that goes along with me everywhere. I have this tripod paired with the Velbon QHD-41Q ballhead and together they give me a tripod set under 2 pounds. The tripod also folds small enough to fit into the bottom of my messenger bag. This setup is so light that my tripod goes with me everywhere, even when I'm not carrying a camera! Sure I have to bend over a little to see threw the viewfinder but the weight savings are worth it in my opinion. So far the tripod has been sturdy and have had no problems with any of my landscape photos. I haven't taken it backpacking with me yet but I don't forsee any problems. Great product! I couldn't be happier.
I've used this combination with a XTI and 24-105L without any problem watsoever, but it may not be able to hold a heavier combination.
Only 4 stars because they could make some minor improvements to satisfy the ounce counters like myself but still one of the lightest tripods around!
