It's basically a very expensive plastic baggie. It's not difficult to close or open. But it is really cumbersome and awkward to use… and that's above water.

The camera doesn't fit well in the case. (It's like throwing a little digital camera into a quart size baggie. It doesn't stay in place.) You have to hold the camera away from the front of the bag because if the lens touches the case, the camera won't work properly. Plus, when you use the flash (which is almost always necessary under water), you get a nasty flash reflection from the plastic.

I can't imagine trying to fiddle with this under water. I have not tried under water because it becomes un-returnable once under water. I got what I paid for, I suppose. Recommendation: DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!
