Comments about Fantasea Fantasea FP-5000 Underwater Camera Housing for the Nikon Coolpix P5000 and P5100 Digital Cameras:

I bought this product based on my good experience with their housing for the Coolpix 885, which functioned great.

I used the housing for the P-5000 for a year without any trouble. Housing worked great for diving down to 102 feet. I was so impressed that I purchased the strobes.

One day when snorkeling at surface, the camera stopped responding and I noticed that the case was flooded with all four locking clips secured. Camera (P-5000) became ruined. Flood insurace did not cover due to expiration after one year.

Maker should redesign the product with a clamshell-type locking device instead of the current two-separate halves, (like they make for other CoolPix models). This would require only one lock and make a more secure seal.

Also company should consider offering flood insurance for more extended periods. We recreational divers do not dive very often and may dive about four or five times a year as most, making the 1 yr flood insurance useless.
