Comments about Canon Canon Ef 70-210 4.0 Lens Metal Mnt *58:
I bought this lens (Canon EF 70-210mm F4) used on [...]. It was rated (E+) by [...], and it arrived in exactly that condition. My Canon EF 70-210mm F4 is mint! I'm use to the "feel" and "build quality" of my former Canon EF 80-200mm II & Canon EF 75-300mm III lenses. When this lens arrived, I soon realized what a great piece I had lucked into. The build quality is outstanding when compared to the above mentioned lenses. Yes, it's heavier, but nothing noticeable. Not only does is feel more solid in its "fit to finish", it outperforms my two former lenses. Honestly, my former Canon EF 75-300 III was a fine lens, but it did get soft from 200-300. This lens has a shorter range, but it's more effective for it stays "sharp" all the way through to 210mm (it's maximum range). That's what I've been wanting, and I finally got it. Some people who dislike this lens, do so because it's a "push/pull" zoom from the old-school days. I didn't know if I would favor that or not until it arrived. I love it! I took the lens for a test drive today and I can honestly say that the "push/pull" is not a downfall in any way. In fact, I like it because it's a new (to me) and faster way to move in between all available zooming ranges. It's not a USM lens, but it's fast in my opinion. I can't tell a difference in it's focusing speed versus my Canon EF 28-105 3.5-4.5 II USM lens. It's more loud indeed, but it's not in anyway annoying or truly noticeable. Another jewel benefit to this lens is the "single-focal-length of f/4" throughout. That's a major advantage over my Canon 75-300 III which was rated at f/4.0-5.6. It might not seem like much, but I can tell a big difference in "low-light" conditions. This feature only makes the Canon 70-210mm F4 that much more "useful". Can I think of anything negative to say about this lens? The only thing I don't like is the "zoom creep". If you tilt the lens down, it will creep downward. But this only poses a problem if you plan on carrying your camera, strapped over your shoulder. I seldom plan on doing so, and with that being said, it's not a concern of mine. I wanted a solidly built lens that was a step up from my former "mass-produced" consumer lenses, and this fits that bill.
