Purchased this for indoor use and to stop me having to back-up all the time. I love it. I use my Canon HV30 much more now I have this lens and leave it on all the time. It screws into the filter threads no problem. There are no threads on the outer edge of the lens but it will screw into filters that are already attached to the camera. In my case there was no vignetting or noticeable loss in quality. I should say that I am not a pro and others may have better eyes.It is very rugged and the extra mass helps keep the camera stable.I am very pleased to have bought this lens.[...] The price was much less than it would cost if I had bought it locally.

I bought this for my Canon HV30.
I had found that when indoors I was constantly backing up to fit a scene in the viewfinder. This adapter makes it much easier for kids parties etc..
It is so good, I keep it on the camera all the time, even outdoors and the extra mass makes the camera more stable when hand held.
The Adorama price is a little more than 1/2 the canadian price.

Love it. The converter is of superb Canon image and build quality. I like extra weight; it makes the camcorder more stable. I took my HV30 on vacation, and the converter stayed on all the time.
Indispensable when you want to stay close to your family, and still get everybody into the frame.
Cons: can not use filters with it.

This is a good quality lens although I do get a slight curving effect on the left and right edges of the frame which I did not expect to get. Good quality lens overall.
