Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Shoe Mountable LED 70 Video Light with 4 Leaf Barndoor.:
I shoot outdoor sports stills and video, and was looking for an inexpensive, portable light that wouldn't require generators and other heavy equipment to operate in the field, and inexpensive enough that it wouldn't be a great loss if it fell a few (hundred) feet. This light fit the bill, with its lightweight, self-powered design. Unfortunately, the hot-shoe mount is so flimsy as to be completely useless. It doesn't hold the light in place well enough to consistently light my subject in difficult conditions, and the hot-shoe portion actually fell off on a recent shoot. My next step will be building my own mount. A very useful upgrade would be a metal, or at least stronger plastic mount. A good light is worthless if it can't be reliably mounted.

It seemed that everything was good about this item when first arrived, once I put it onto the camera I realized How weak its supporting system was, it looked like it was going to break in any moment. They should build this item with a stronger supporting system that could add stability to the light

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Shoe Mountable LED 70 Video Light with 4 Leaf Barndoor.:
I bought this to use with my E-P2 digital camera when taking video. The output is quite good for reasonable distances and assists with still photos as well.
I like that it came already charged, that it charges from AC or usb (plugs supplied) and that it has a charge level indicator (5 leds).
I did not like the rather flimsy design and the poor fit to the hotshoe of my digicam. It may be a better fit on a video camera.

In our wedding photography, we use video lights for romantic close ups, accents and portraits. An LED light with a self-contained battery is the simplests way to go. At the top of this market sits Lite Panels with their MicroPro. A great light at a steep price. At the bottom of this market sits Sima with thie 9-LED and 30-LED lights that are too small to be useful and not color-correct for ANY lighting situation--indoor or out.So we've been looking for a good, cheap 70-LED solution. This Flashpoint light seems like a great bargain in its class. 5600 degrees K, bright enough to be uueful and noce, soft light. It is a bit larger than I would prefer. And the articulated plastic shoe mount is a joke--I took it apart, discarded the ittle arm, and attached the shoe directly to the light. The barn doors are pretty much useless. This light is too soft for barn doors to be effective. But for [$], this light gives nice light and seems reliable. Tthe built-in battery lasts long enough for our purposes, though the tiny charger provided charges pretty slowly. The charger supports USB charging but we really have no need for that. I would rate this light as the current king of inexpensive video lights. The similar Bescor light is pure, trashy junk, and the equally suimilar DLC light uses a proprietary rechargable battery that has to be detached form the light to charge. The DLC light is otherwise good, but its' battery scheme is a negative. You should try this flashpoint light. It's a good value for the money I think.

the lighting is good -however the screw adjustments feel to be zeroed out when you try to tighten by hand-very difficult to adjust-- the hot shoe mount is also way to tight- you have to manhandle it to get it on and off-other than that everything is peachy

I didn't buy this for film. I often do macro photography with a DSLR, sometimes in the late evening or at night. This light lets me autofocus easily so the flash can do the rest. It also does very nicely as a fill light.

I use this product for interviews for sports, events etc.. I never heard of the Flashpoint shoe light. I was looking into purchasing the light panel due to the dimmer it has. Though the flashpoint shoe is a brighter light. would love to see an upgraded version that comes with a dimmer button. Whats great about the light its light weight the light is bright you get alitttle more light than the light panel (Micro) otherwise its a good product for videographers to use for interviews.
