This is the Sony OEM battery for several of its cameras (and probably other gear). There are a number of aftermarket manufacturers that offer "replacement batteries" for the same equipment at a much lower price. I have purchased three such "replacement batteries" and EVERY single one of them has, within a year or less, failed in some way: Typically they quit holding their charge and start dying after only a few minutes of use.
This battery, the Sony OEM version of the product, is the ONLY one that reliably holds its charge for the full duration of its amperage rating and has a lifetime of several years and many use/charge cycles. Because of the high failure rate of the "replacement batteries," this Sony OEM battery is, by far, the most economical choice, despite its higher initial price.

Great battery. If it's a sony product you will be using it in then stick with a Sony battery. Bottom Line.
