Comments about Ikan Ikan V5600 5.6" HD LCD Video Monitor with 1024 x 600 Resolution and HDMI Input:

I have two Canon HV30's mounted side by side with the left camera inverted. I am experimenting with 3D stereoscopic filming and have mounted the cameras as close as possible to get the two lenses as close to interocular distance as possible (2.5inches average for most people). The trick is that in this configuration the on-camera LCD for each camera cannot be opened so I needed a high resolution monitor to use for filming.

The Ikan V5600 meets the following requirements for me:
1. Good resolution (nearly triple the pixels of the on-camera LCD).
2. Great color rendition.
3. HDMI input (best picture quality for the HDMI output of the Canon HV30s) I have a HDMI switcher to switch between the two cameras but I plan to buy a second Ikan V5600 to set up a stereoscopic monitoring system).
4. Very portable. Size and weight of the V5600 make mounting on a flash hot shoe very practical. It can be run off camera batteries using the appropriate mounting plate (haven't tested this yet as the mounting plate is on backorder). With a good tripod I feel that mounting dual V5600s is quite practical. I also plan to use a steadicam rig (Flowpod) so the portability is crucial.
5.Well priced for the quality image.

A portable external monitor was crucial for my setup and the quality of the V5600 does the job admirably.

I feel the only feature missing on this model which is found on lower resolution models is the ability to flip the image vertically or horizontally. This would have made a dual stereoscopic viewing rig easier (using a mirror between two monitors. With these I will have to mount side by side and use some viewing prisms used for parallel stereoscopic pairs.

All in all, I definitely plan to buy another V5600.
