You can't beat the image quality of a Foveon Sensor

By Shane G.

I don't want to say too much about this camera because it's like a hidden jewel and I want to keep the secret! People are flaunting their images taken by their Canon's and Nikon's and then you pull out a Sigma SD Quattro H image and the room gets quiet and their mouth drops open! It never fails to amaze! 95% of the sheep use Bayer Pattern sensors -- The creative few use Foveon! But this camera is definitely not for everyone: It doesn't do video. If you like to shoot and spray images like Nas...

Fantastic

By George S.

After reading online reviews about how slow the camera is and how it can only be used with a tripod in bright sunlight, I was reluctant to buy it. I own a Canon T3i and a Panasonic GX85 with several lenses and I was always disappointed with the quality of my photos. I admit I am a pixel peeper. I used the Sigma at a friend's wedding without a tripod on a cloudy day and I found it no slower than the Gx85, with precise focus, and exceptional IQ. This is the best camera I owned and the best 1000...

The sd Quattro is a highly unique APS-C sensor mirrorless camera designed with the Foveon Quattro sensor. This sensor is renowned for its incredible image quality and color fidelity and produces imagery comparable to that of a 39MP DSLR with a Bayer-pattern sensor. Its new physical design touts a two mode autofocus system, utilizing phase detection and contrast detection for optimal performance while a dust & splash proof magnesium alloy body make this system rugged and ideal for harsh conditions. While in "Auto", a new 2.3MP viewfinder will toggle between the eye piece when the photographer raises the camera to their face and then toggle to the LCD screen as the photographer lowers the camera.

The Super Fine detail mode takes full advantage of the Foveon sensor, capturing 7 different exposure in one click for the ultimate dynamic range (image can be extracted individually). The Sigma sd Quattro is manufactured to use the Sigma Global Vision lenses, renowned for their super IQ and performance.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
RICHARD R  The Sigma SD Quattro is unique in the way that its Foveon sensor captures more color. Its sensor utilizes three vertically stacked photodiodes, where each of the three stacked photodiodes has a different spectral sensitivity (Red, Green, Blue). Sigma's sensor technology is able to record three distinct colors (RGB) at EACH pixel location. This is radically different from ALL other sensors that use the Bayer filter array that limits each photosite from exposure to all three colors at once.
Len W  Camera was selected for use on a project site where devices with wifi capability are not permitted.
H.R. t  I am a Sigma camera fan!
