For $ ,a great bang for the buck
I use this camcorder primarily for video surveillance in my car. It's mounted on a tripod, and with the stabilization function 'on', does a very good job of minimizing camera shake. Taking still pictures are handled admirably by the HDV 188, producing quality shots when exposure settings are on 'auto'(see image). I have not experimented much with the manual still image settings but some are available. I paid [$] for a reliable, good quality camcorder, still camera and mp3 player. I can connect the camcorder to a tv via rca or hdmi inputs, and have a 1 year warranty to boot! Not bad, huh? Just don't drop it...

Jazz HDV188 is Awesome!
The perfect camera for anyone who loves photography but can't always have their large camera handy. Easy to use, takes wonderful video and stills, an absolute joy to work with! Highly recommend to any user at any level!
