bought this with a 32gb CF card... unfortunately this reader could only handle my 16gb cards (failed to recognize 32gb).

I bought this reader with a 32GB card from Adorama. However, it won't read the card at all. (my old and slow reader had no problem with it) It reads 16GB cards just fine, just not anything larger. I would avoid this card unless you plan on never using large CF cards, but with digital photography requiring more and more space, it's just a matter of time before this item becomes useless.

Unlike cable connected version from different vendor, this unit functioned well when first plugged into my MacBook Pro. No problems and provided fast transfer of 3-6 MB images.

I first plugged this in with a 32GB card inserted and the computer did not recognize it. I did some searching on Google and saw a mention of it working up to 8GB, so I plugged in my 4GB card and it read that one fine. I'd say go for it if your cards 8GB or less, but it might not work on cards bigger than that.

Its a very basic piece of equipment but if it does not work I can not get my pictures off my camera. Dead after 1 month. Stay away.

Works great until the little pins inside get bent. Then it's useless.

Tiny, and inexpensive it lives with my laptop. No cord to tangle or get lost it is the perfect tool for the job. Buy one for your computer bag or as a backup but buy one.
