The Atik Titan is three CCD Cameras in one- a planetary camera, a guider and a cooled deep-sky imager. In high-speed mode, the Titan is able to record up to 15 frames per second in uncompressed 16-bit format. This is essential in capturing moments of steady "seeing" where the image is sharpest. The 16-bit digitization makes it easier to pull spectacular detail out of the moon and low contrast objects like the surface of the Sun or the cloud belts of Saturn.

Observing with the Titan frees you from concerns about temperature-compensated dark frames which only add noise to your final images. Why? Unlike its competitors, the camera has such low thermal and read noise that in most circumstances dark frames are simply not necessary, allowing you to spend more time imaging the heavens and less time calibrating the sensor! Not only does this make life easier for beginners, it also allows for the longer exposure times which more experienced observers will often require. Imaging the faintest wisps of nebulae through narrowband filters is now something which you can do rather than only dream of.

With 16-bit analog-to-digital conversion, high-efficiency thermoelectric cooling, a high-transmission BK7 optical window and a low-vibration magnetic levitating fan, the Titan has been designed and built with the needs of the serious astro-imager in mind. Even the power consumption is kept to an absolute minimum - 550mA at 12V DC - allowing you to get the most out of every observing session.

What's more, there's an ST-4-compatible autoguiding port to allow you to extend your exposure lengths without being limited by telescope tracking errors. The Titan's mix of high sensitivity and high frame rate makes it an ideal guide camera. Guiding can be performed through Atik's included Capture software or programs like MaxIm DL, Astroart and CCDSoft.
