Episode 2 – Tom Kennedy and Luke Copping chat with Alyssa Meadows about the synergies between YPA and ASMP and the realities of being a young photographer in NYC. Alyssa is a freelance photographer that works to bring a client’s vision to life, and develops behind-the-scenes & promotional materials for films. She is also the Mentorship Programming Manager for YPA. Alyssa grew up in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and studied photography at University of Miami and Penn State University. Her body of work predominantly explores photojournalism, documentary, & reportage, often focusing on political issues from environmental concerns to the ramifications of rampant sexism in our society. Her experience in the photographic industry is varied and focuses heavily on strengthening the community. She serves on the ASMP-NY Board, and recently revitalized the Young Photographers Alliance summer mentorship program. She freelances as a Photo Editor for Shutterstock and was previously a Photo Editor with People Magazine.
