Image quality includes a choice of 4K60 or 1080p240 slow-motion video, a step up from the Hero5 Black. This is thanks to a new GP1 chip, which GoPro claims to deliver improved image quality as well as better stabilization.

The audio capture part of the GoPro Hero6 Black has been reduced using wind noise reduction and immersive stereo audio, via the three onboard mics. Other features include HiLight tag, burst mode, video looping, night and time-lapse photography in 0.5, 1, 2,5, 10, 30 and 60-second intervals.
