With today’s announcement of the new Canon compact digital camera lineup, Canon has unveiled four new cameras for the point-and-shoot crowd that feature a New ECO mode which they claim helps reduce power consumption for longer battery life. The two more advanced models are WiFi-enabled, but the one model that is causing the most “oohs and ahhs” is the diminutive <\/span>Canon PowerShot N<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, a tiny 12MP camera that isn’t much larger than its 12.8-inch, tilting touch panel LCD.<\/span><\/p>\n

Canon PowerShot N<\/a><\/strong>The <\/span>Canon PowerShot N<\/a><\/strong><\/span> camera is approximately the size of a bar of soap, and when you flip out the LCD monitor it can stand on its own. Despite its small size it features a 28-224mm (35mm equivalent) f\/3-5.9 lens, an optical stabilizer, a 12MP CMOS sensor, and 1080 full HD video capture. The Canon Powershot N offers built-in Wi-Fi and lets you upload to the Internet via your iOS or Android Device via the free Canon CameraWindow app.But it is the camera’s distinctive design that is attracting the most attention. The LCC monitor can be flipped up to 90 degrees; users adjust settings and modes using gestures to zoom, rotate and select images on the screen. Dual rings surrounding the lens barrel control the lens and shutter. the outer ring controls the shutter, which can be released from any point on the ring; the inner ring controls the zoom.Canon offers a six-way optical image stabilizer that compensates for all different kinds of camera movement, and Canon says the camera’s ISO range has been expanded to ISO 6400. Another cool feature: Creative Shot, which analyzes each scene and applies color, tone, crop or rotation adjustments to the image automatically. In addition, Canon offers 7 creative filter modes.The <\/span>Canon PowerShot N<\/a><\/strong><\/span> will be available in April for $299.99 in White<\/a><\/strong> or Black<\/a><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Canon PowerShot ELPH 130 IS<\/strong><\/a><\/strong>The latest in Canon’s fabled ELPH line, the <\/span>Canon PowerShot ELPH 130 IS<\/strong><\/a><\/span> camera adds Wi-Fi capabilities. Designed for snapshooters who want a traditional camera design but a step up from a basic camera, this model offers 16MP, a 28-224mm (35mm equivalent) f\/3.2-6.9 lens, a 16MP CMOS sensor with an ISO range of 100-1600, 720p HD video capture, 32 preset modes that can be chosen by Smart Auto, which analyzes the scene and chooses the most appropriate settings, and ECO mode, which Canon claims extends battery life. Intelligent IS automatically chooses the best anti-camera-shake mode based on actual camera movement, and built-in Wi-Fi lets you share images to online social networks and other sources via your iOS or ‘Droid mobile device. The Canon PowerShot ELPH will be available next month for $199.99 in Grey<\/a><\/strong>, Red<\/a><\/strong>, and Silver<\/a><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\"CanonCanon PowerShot A2600<\/strong><\/a>Canon today also introduced two budget-priced compact cameras. The <\/span>Canon PowerShot A2600<\/strong><\/a><\/span> camera has a 5x optical zoom that starts at 28mm, a 16MP sensor, a 3-inch LCD monitor, an ISO range of 100-1600, digital image stabilization, face detection, and Smart Auto with 32 predefined shooting situations; the camera automatically chooses the best settings based on the scene in front of it.The A2600 captures 720p HD video, and Canon claims longer battery life via the ECO mode. The Canon A2600 will be available in February for $149.99 in Black<\/a><\/strong> , Blue<\/a><\/strong> , Pink<\/a><\/strong> , Red<\/a><\/strong> , and Silver<\/a><\/strong> .<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Canon PowerShot A1400<\/strong><\/a><\/strong>Canon hasn’t forgotten those of us who prefer cameras with an optical, eye-level viewfinder. The Canon PowerShot A1400 camera is a 16MP camera with basically the same specs as the A2600 but with the addition of an optical viewfinder that zooms with the 5x optical zoom lens. Powered by easy-to-find AA batteries, Canon says the A1400’s new ECO mode will help increase battery life. The camera will be available $109.99 in Black<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
