It has been a very busy year for Nikon. In fact, the camera giant launched an unprecedented number of high-tech marvels covering the entire range of photographic tools, from a diminutive compact that fits comfortably in the palm of one’s hand to a new flagship DSLR. Even though the year isn’t over, let’s look at Nikon’s Year of Great Stuff:<\/p>\n

Nikon D4<\/a><\/p>\n

The year started off with the the announcement of the Nikon D4<\/a> and a new 85mm f\/1.8 portrait lens. Mark Wallace gave his first impressions of the Nikon D4 for AdoramaTV (see the video, above),<\/a> and Joe McNally wrote a series of blog posts for the Adorama Learning Center where he spoke glowingly about his first uses of the Nikon D4 in the field. Nikon D800<\/a><\/p>\n

Barely a month passed when Nikon astounded the photography world by announcing the Nikon D800<\/a>, a 36MP HDSLR powerhouse, which we reported on along with the specifications<\/a> . Check out Richard Harrington’s review of the Nikon D800 on AdoramaTV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nikon D3200<\/a><\/p>\n

In the spring, Nikon announced a new starter DSLR, the Nikon D3200<\/a>, a 24MP marvel that Jason Schneider called a “future best-seller” in his review of the Nikon D3200 for the Adorama Learning Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nikon D600<\/a>, Coolpix S800c<\/a>, Coolpix S01<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, September\u2014and Photokina\u2014came around. Nikon introduced a new full-frame DSLR, the Nikon D600<\/a>, which is the first full-frame DSLR to sell for under $2,100. Then Nikon turned the compact camera world on its head with the Nikon Coolpix S800c<\/a>, a touch-screen, Wi-Fi camera that is the first Nikon to run on Android. Nikon also announced the tiny Nikon Coolpix S01<\/a> , which is smaller than a deck of cards and is possibly one of the smallest digital cameras we’ve seen.<\/p>\n

Nikon Coolpix P7700<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the summer, Nikon revamped its flagship compact camera, the Nikon Coolpix P7700<\/a>, in a sleeker body and a new high-performance 12MP, 1\/17-inch CMOS sensor with ligthning-fast AF and a faster 7.1x f\/2-4 zoom lens. Check out our first impressions of this major upgrade<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nikon 1 J2<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the summer, Nikon stayed busy, introducing the next generation of its Nikon 1 compact interchangeable-lens line, the Nikon 1 J2<\/a>, which adds a new Creative Mode with 8 new picture-taking effects.<\/p>\n

Yup, it’s been an unusually productive year for Nikon (Don’t forget about the new Nikon 18-300mm and 24-85mm lenses for the Nikon F mount<\/a>!). And it’s not over yet!<\/p>\n
