A little under a year ago, security startup Nest<\/a> introduced the innovative Nest Cam to an unsuspecting world. Affordable and created without the need for additional cables and manpower for installation, the Nest Cam could be plugged in anywhere within your home and controlled wirelessly by an app on your smartphone. Well, in September Nest plans to roll out an outdoor<\/em> version.<\/p>\n

The latest iteration pretty much functions the same way as the old one. The camera offers a 130 degree wide-angle view with the ability to zoom in for that closer look should you see anything suspicious. And with the Nest app<\/a>, you can rewind and watch whatever you might have missed the first time\u2026 all in glorious 1080HD.<\/p>\n

\"Alerts-on-your-phone\"<\/p>\n

Not only that, the Nest Cam Outdoor retains the cleverest aspect of the whole security system: it senses motion and will send alerts to your phone. It also utilizes an advanced algorithm enabling depth sensing and face detection. Which is pretty amazing considering the entire package will cost you at least three times less than the standard home security set up.<\/p>\n

Obviously the outdoor sibling to the indoor model is weatherproof. So there is no fear of it short circuiting thanks to rain damage. That\u2019s not all: users can create a network that not only connects the Outdoor Cam to the Indoor Cam, but you can use it to determine when the lights go on and when the shades are closed as well.<\/p>\n
