{"id":3469,"date":"2009-12-17T05:10:05","date_gmt":"2009-12-17T05:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.wordpress\/?p=3469"},"modified":"2025-05-02T13:23:30","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T17:23:30","slug":"crossing-the-bridge-with-moose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/alc\/crossing-the-bridge-with-moose\/","title":{"rendered":"Crossing the Bridge with Moose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a terrific evening program Moose Peterson presented for the Workshops@Adorama (sponsored by Adorama and Nikon) on November 12, on November 13 the Workshops@Adorama and Nikon sponsored a Special Workshop with Moose that was supposed to be held at the Jamaica Bay National Wildlife Refuge to photograph birds in this amazing wildlife habitat.<\/p>\n<p>But the remnants of Hurricane Ida came to town that day, and the expected high winds and rain nixed those plans (try managing a <a title=\"Nikon 300mm f\/4G lens\" href=\"\/nk6004afvru.html\">600mm Nikon lens<\/a>, a number of which were being generously provided for the participants to borrow for the day, through Nikon&#8217;s NPS, in 40+ mph winds).<\/p>\n<p>So we went to Plan B. Moose and I came up with &#8216;Crossing the Bridge with Moose&#8217;, beginning with exploring Moose&#8217;s favorite NYC subway station at Chambers Street, then crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, and heading into DUMBO. (For those of you not entirely familiar with NYC, the area known as DUMBO is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, a great section of Brooklyn with historic buildings and iconic views of Manhattan and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges).<\/p>\n<p>As a special incentive to our adventurous and resilient Workshop participants, Moose proposed the idea of a photo contest for the best shot of the day, and he generously offered full paid tuition to one of his upcoming DLWS events (a $1,000 value) for the winner. Each photographer could submit up to five images. A number of photographers participated in the contest, and Moose chose as the winner Ed Fritz&#8217;s shot of the walker on the Brooklyn Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Read what Moose thought about the workshop,
