I shot in AF-C using the Sony lenses, and I never had to switch to manual, and I loved using the new joystick to control the focus point (we didn&#8217;t have that on the A7 series).<\/p>\n<p>I tried to use the beautiful depth that the lenses and a location like Coney Island gave me&nbsp;as much as possible, so I shot often between f1.4 and f2.8 with high shutter speed. To freeze the action and get a sharp image, I asked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/saralandeau\/\">Sara<\/a> to rock the Fender Electric Guitar (available now, exclusively at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/g\/exclusive-fender-guitar\">Adorama<\/a>) instead of posing for a catalog, which gave the photos a more dynamic and lively feel.<\/p>\n<p>I also focused on color, and since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/fe170237785.html\">guitar<\/a> has very specific and famous color (in this case, sonic blue), I used the background and the clothes of the model to highlight that as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Gear:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/isoa9.html\">Sony A9<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/sg3514eosmk.html?searchinfo=sony+35mm+f1.4&amp;searchredirect=true\">Sony 35mm f1.4<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/iso8514gm.html?searchinfo=sony+85mm+f1.4+gm.&amp;searchredirect=true\">Sony 85mm f1.4 GM.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/femustbas.html\">Fender Limited Edition Mustang Bass PJ Electric Guitar<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Settings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>35mm<\/p>\n<p>ISO 200<\/p>\n<p>F 2.2<\/p>\n<p>SS: 1\/8000s<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000; padding: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/alc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/sal-dalia.jpg\" alt=\"Sal D'alia\" width=\"195\" height=\"181\">Sal started his career as a freelance director, producer, cameraman, and editor. He has worked for Citroen, Unilever, Nike, Food Network, Jon Bon Jovi, <em>Glamour<\/em>, <em>GQ<\/em>, NY Giants, Bravo, Berman Braum, Sony, DanceOn, Mox TV, Ultra Records, and John Varvato. Sal&#8217;s first feature \u201cLa Piccola A\u201d won a national award at the Bergamo Film Festival and received national distribution with LAB 80. His short movie &#8220;The Word Trader&#8221;, which was selected to the Cannes Film Festival 2013, the Big Apple Film Festival 2013, and received an honorable mention at the Manhattan Film Festival 2013.
