Their reaction &#8212; I thought they were going to ask me to stop taking pictures, and they didn\u2019t &#8212; she just nudged her friend and they turned to me and gave me a smile. That\u2019s what I love\u2026\u201d He initially surmised disapproval from these subjects because he so often faces it back home. \u201cI\u2019ve been asked often in France to delete the pictures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37490\" (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/center>In order to bounce back from such discouragement, Wheeler allows himself to indulge in portraiture when he travels outside of Europe, such as during a recent trip to Japan. \u201cThe people were so \u2018photo-friendly,\u2019\u201d he says. \u201cJapan is definitely the country that made me want to push myself to take street portraits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37502\" want, then Wheeler is happy to oblige. He reads every Instagram comment, but laments to AdoramaTV that constructive criticism is lacking, because \u201cInstagram is kind of a happy place.\u201d The positive response enjoyed by Wheeler has translated into opportunities to work with brands, including Hennessy, Bogarde (a Parisian bike company), and La Mordue Hard Cider.
