Mamiya announced today three new digital backs, the M18, M22, and M31, with resolutions of 18, 22.1, and 31.6 megapixels, respectively. The M18 and M31’s sensors measure 44.2×33.1mm, while the M22’s is a bit larger at 48.9×36.7mm. The backs can be sold separately or bundled with the Mamiya 645AFD<\/a> camera and Sekor 80mm f\/2.8 D lens. While the Mamiya press release indicates the backs are for the Mamiya 645AFD, the publicity still shows it attached to an RZ67<\/a> so it is likely also compatible with that camera.<\/p>\n

Mamiya Digital Imaging is proud to announce our new M series digital backs, consisting of three new models: the M18, M22 and M31, the latest additions to our digital line-up.<\/p>\n

The M series digital backs have all been designed for compatibility with Mamiya’s 645AFD, as well as the soon-to-be-released 645DF, which was recently show-cased at the 2009 Tokyo Photo Expo. Through use of the specifically designed digital back adapter HX701, the backs can also be attached to our famed RZ Pro D. The M18 has a resolution of 18 megapixels and a CCD size of 44.2 x 33.1mm. The M22 has a resolution of 22.1 megapixels and a CCD size of 48.9 x 36.7mm while the M31 has 31.6 megapixels and a 44.2 x 33.1mm CCD. These large sized CCDs make the digital backs ideal for medium format photography. Each digital back can be purchased separately or in a system kit with the Mamiya 645AFD camera and Sekor 80mm F2.8 D lens. The M series backs are the quintessential tool for commercial photographers and studios, covering portraiture and on location work.<\/p>\n

M18<\/h4>\n

With a capture rate to rival any high-end DSLR, this model is highly versatile featuring a 44.2 x 33.1mm CCD with 9 x 9 microns, making it for medium format photographer as it utilizes every pixel. Its manageable data size ensures for an optimized workflow. This model is also suitable for highly-sensitive photography.<\/p>\n

M22<\/h4>\n

As this digital back also handles its data size easily through its CCD, it is ideal for commercial photography. Even when attached to a view camera it allows for live preview and matches framing to focus.<\/p>\n

M31<\/h4>\n

Perfect for fashion or field photography, this model offers effective moir\u00e9 control and steady capture rate. Offering a wide ISO range and capable of long exposures, the M31 is competent in any type of shooting environment.<\/p>\n
