The ratings, which are based on analysis of RAW image data at the sensor level, do not take into accouunt internal post-processing which may take place when converting images to JPEGs, which may narrow or even eliminate this gap. But, &#8220;the Nikon D5000 outperforms the Canon [Ti] for every metric evaluated on dxomark.com.&#8221; Should this make a difference when making a purchasing decision? Yes, but only a slight one.
