The company has posted the following notice explaining the phenomenon, which serial numbered cameras may have the problem, and has offered to repair affected cameras for free.<\/p>\n<p>For details, read the Canon service notice:<\/p>\n<p>Service Notice: PowerShot G10: Lines Appear in Captured Images<\/p>\n<p>To Owners of the PowerShot G10 digital camera<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for using Canon products.<\/p>\n<p>We have discovered that in rare instances, lines may appear in images captured by some units of the PowerShot G10 digital camera. Accordingly, we would like to convey the details and our service policy concerning this phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>We regret that some of our customers may have been inconvenienced by this issue and would like to offer our apologies to them. Canon will continue to strive to provide our customers with high quality products that they can use with confidence. Thank you for your kind understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Affected Models<\/p>\n<p>PowerShot G10<\/p>\n<p>Products with the following serial numbers are affected. Please check the serial number on the bottom of the camera to see if your camera is affected.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Serial Numbers<br \/>\n Products whose fourth and fifth digits from the left indicate the following numbers may be affected.<\/p>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/alc\/wp-content\/uploads\/alc_images\/article11527_1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Example:<br \/>\n***50*****, ***51*****, ***52*****,<br \/>\n***53*****, ***80*****, ***81*****,<br \/>\n***82*****, ***83*****<\/p>\n<p>Among products with the serial numbers described above, if there is a marking on the lens side inside the battery cover like the one in the image below, the issue has already been corrected, and you may continue to use your camera as is with no further action required.<\/p>\n<p>Marking Position<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/alc\/wp-content\/uploads\/alc_images\/article11527_2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>* For details about the marking on the LCD monitor side,?please click here.<\/p>\n<p>Phenomenon<br \/>\nAs shown in the following image, lines may appear in images captured with some PowerShot G10 digital cameras.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/alc\/wp-content\/uploads\/alc_images\/article11527_3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022This phenomenon does not occur in all images.<br \/>\n\u2022 This phenomenon is not caused by the camera settings.<br \/>\n\u2022 The length of lines that appear in images differs depending on the subject.<br \/>\n\u2022 Images that exhibit this phenomenon cannot be fixed.<\/p>\n<p>Countermeasure<\/p>\n<p>Free repairs will be provided for affected products.
