“There are a million interesting stories to be told out there but the challenge is getting people to pay you to tell them,” says Meyer. “I love championing the underdog. And I love being able to craft beautiful imagery to tell those stories.”<\/p>\n

“For an image to give me that feeling, it has to contain something that transcends the composition: the emotion, the timing and the light all conspiring to create something greater than a sum of its parts,” Agnew says. “As a cinematographer, it\u2019s a feeling associated less with single images and more with scenes: I know when I\u2019ve gotten the right collection of shots to tell the story of that scene \u2014 when I\u2019ve captured it in a way to give an audience an experience of being there in some way. It\u2019s so satisfying when you\u2019re done and you know you got it! And so terribly unsatisfying when you don\u2019t\u2026it\u2019s like a drug, chasing that feeling.”<\/p>\n

Fine Art Photographer Laura Husar Garcia <\/h4>\n

“My work is an expression of who I truly am and whatever story I\u2019m yearning to express,” Husar Garcia says. “When I\u2019m not creating, I\u2019m less content, as my photography is an extension of myself. So for me, there really isn\u2019t an option. It\u2019s like needing to breathe. I have always been a keen observer, from early childhood. My father was a writer and often took me with him on interviews and adventures. He taught me to see and embrace the world in a visual way, as we discussed what we were seeing and I made photographs alongside him. They were formative years that helped shape who I am.” <\/p>\n

“I love to see and then, to feel. The act of photographing keeps me rooted in the present in the best possible way,” Schreiber says. “It also forces me to get away from my computer and meet people. Keeping photography in my life on any level brings me great joy. I eat, breathe and dream about it. I\u2019ve often said I\u2019m an infatuation junkie and live to be sparked, visually.”<\/p>\n

“My mission has been, and always will be, to capture who people are, not necessarily what they look like. I shoot from the heart,” Host says. “At the end of the day, photography means truth to me. It\u2019s sort of a religion. I love what I do and I love working with people and making them feel good about themselves. There isn\u2019t enough of that going around these days and I love being a part of it.”<\/p>\n

“Making pictures is the only way I know how to process these big questions that I have about life,” McClure says. “I have a brain that wanders and chatters. The only way I can get it to shut up is to focus on a project or wander and shoot.”<\/p>\n

Art Photographer Meg Loeks<\/h4>\n

\u201cPersonally I don\u2019t feel I\u2019ve faced any particular challenges as a woman photographer,\u201d Loeks observes, \u201cbut sometimes I\u2019m not taken as seriously because my main subjects revolve around my family. However my children are my greatest inspiration. They are the reason I pick up my camera every single day. I realized long ago that if you\u2019re not photographing something you absolutely love, the results will be mediocre at best. So I decided the best thing to do was to document the world around me, and my family\u2019s daily life. That\u2019s where I have always felt a pull. I want my children to look back at the images I created and see how I saw them. I want my viewers to feel as though they were with me during these moments, that they felt what I felt.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I strive to make timeless images, whether portraits or nudes, but I don\u2019t dwell upon that. When I\u2019m shooting, nothing else exists\u2014my mind is focused in the moment, in other words on my passion,” Stoll says. “I want to focus on more missions that change lives. If one image can change a child\u2019s life, it is worth changing my life to do it.” <\/p>\n
