Seoul, Korea (January 3, 2008) – LG.Philips LCD [NYSE: LPL, KRX: 034220], a leading
\ninnovator of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, announced today
\nthat it will debut the world\u2019s highest resolution 14.3-inch flexible color E-paper display at the
\nConsumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008.
\n
\nThe 14.3-inch E-paper display, which is equivalent in size to an A4 sheet of paper, represents
\na significant improvement over its predecessors with a never before seen resolution of 1280 by
\n800 pixels, and the ability to display 16.7 million colors, making it perfect for use in high end
\nmultimedia applications. These displays are extremely energy efficient, only using power when
\nthe image changes. Additionally, the displays are extremely thin, at less than 300 micrometers.

\nLG.Philips LCD\u2019s use of metal foil and plastic substrates, rather than glass substrate makes
\nthe flexible color E-paper display bendable and durable, while maintaining superior display
\nqualities. Like its predecessors, this 14.3-inch display uses a substrate that arranges thin-film
\ntransistors (TFT) on metal foil rather than glass, allowing it to recover its original shape after
\nbeing bent. Furthermore, it can also be viewed from a full 180 degrees, so that images always
\nappear crisp, even when the display is bent.

\nThis new display uses LG.Philips LCD\u2019s proprietary processing technology to minimize panel
\ndeformation and prevent circuit structure change during high-temperature processes-focusing
\non the designs of the color filter structure and TFT, as well as color filter lamination technology.
\nThis allows the display to overcome processing difficulties inherent in the lack of heat
\nresistance in metal foil and plastic substrates.

\n\u201cOur new 14.3-inch flexible color display is nearly the equivalent size of an A4 size paper, but
\nyou can roll it up and take it with you,\u201d said Mr. In-Jae Chung, LG.Philips LCD\u2019s chief

\nas a printed sheet of paper and can be used in a number of applications like electronic

\nLG.Philips LCD will also unveil the highest resolution mono flexible E-paper which is similar in
\nsize to a B5 size paper and it plans to launch this mono flexible E-paper in 2008.

\nAccording to a recent report from Displaybank, a Korea-based research firm specializing in the
\ndisplay industry, the flexible display market is projected to grow into a USD 5.9 billion market
\nby 2010, rising to USD 12 billion by 2015.
