After downloading the software and drivers from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presonus.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PreSonus<\/a>\u2019 website, all you need to do is reboot your computer and you&#8217;re ready to record. That\u2019s how I initially ran my first stream with it before diving into the features of the microphone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Sound Flexibility and Selectable Polar Patterns<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using it on stream was completely different from my own mic. I could be much further away from the PreSonus Revelator USB-C Microphone and still be heard. My previous microphone required me to be pretty close in order to be heard, so this was a welcomed adjustment. I found that another big benefit of this was when I had guests with me on live streams. One problem I frequently ran into was that when I had one or two guests over for a stream, they couldn\u2019t be heard clearly since I was closer to the microphone. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the PreSonus microphone, they could all be heard from a further distance without issues. That\u2019s what makes this microphone great, especially for streamers and podcasters that may want to record people beside them or around a table. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PreSonus Revelator USB Microphone has three selectable polar patterns: cardioid, omnidirectional, and Figure-8. These will allow you to adjust this microphone towards you and those around you for the setup. This flexibility is great because it will help the volume levels when your guests or cohosts are in different places. The initial cord you get with the microphone to plug into your computer is short. For a laptop, typically this will be fine. Although, for a desktop, you may need to either replace the cord on your own or have an extender to fully reach the microphone. My desktop isn\u2019t really close to my desk, but I was able to fix this since I had an USB extender already on hand. Other than that, there were a few preset settings that I manually removed because I didn\u2019t care for using those presets on my stream and recordings \u2014 such as the distorted voice. You can plug in a 3.5mm headphone directly into your microphone for testing. Then, you can hear back as you make those adjustments to your gain, voice effects, different settings, and map out the 16 unique presets you may want in place. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It doesn&#8217;t matter if you\u2019re not well-versed in the settings such as EQ, compression, limiter, gate, and other effects. You can go to a new preset and listen back to find what\u2019s the ideal setting for your recording. This was extremely useful as I adjusted different settings on the microphone until I reached the ideal. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even though the default settings are suitable for recordings and the effects as well, I highly encourage anyone that purchases this mic to test these settings and see how they sound through the provided software. Adjusting these settings will only benefit the user and their sound quality in the long run.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, I highly recommend this microphone for those in podcast settings due to the polar pattern settings. It is great for those who want to record videos and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/alc\/how-to-live-stream-step-by-step\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">livestream<\/a> because of its ease of access and customizable preset voices. You can use the presets for different moments of the stream, such as exciting events, gaming, and hype moments during the broadcast.
