Sony Vario-Sonnar T 16-35mm f\/2.8 lens<\/strong><\/p>\n

TheSony Vario-Sonnar T 16-35mm f\/2.8<\/a>lens features T-star lens coating that Sony says virtually eliminates lens flare and improves light transmission, has a circular aperture for more pleasing bokeh, aspherical lens design to reduce aspherical aberration, ED (Extra-low dispersion glass) to reduce chromatic aberration, internal focusing, dust and moisture seals, and a rugged design. The new lens has many of the same great featuresas itspredecessor,(Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm F4 ZA OSS E-mount NEX Camera Lens<\/a>from Adorama for $1,348), with some fantastic improvements.<\/p>\n

SSM (Supersonic wave motor), a piezeoelectric motor that provides smooth, quiet operation and greater autofocus precision.<\/p>\n

Focus hold button: This lets you keep the lens locked once you’ve adjusted focus, to avoid focus slip. You can also assign the camera’s image preview function to this button as a custom setting.<\/p>\n

Distance Encoder: A lens component that detects the position of the focus mechanism and sends a signal to the camera’s CPU to more accurately measure the amount of flash output needed at that distance. The advantage here is that flash metering is not affected by the reflectance of subjects or background, effectively working like an incidence flash meter.<\/p>\n

ADI Flash Metering: Further improving flash quality is Advance Distance Integration, which provides automatic metering that is unaffected by reflectance. Sony says this is a more reliable way to determine flash output than conventional TTL metering, which can be thrown off by overly reflective or overly dark subjects and backgrounds.<\/p>\n

The Sony Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm f\/2.8 ZA SSM II<\/a> replaces the original Sony 24-70mm f\/2.8 Vario-Sonnar ZA T* Carl Zeiss, which is still available<\/a> from Adorama for $1,998. It offers T-coating that virtually eliminates lens flare and improves light transmission, has a circular 9-blade aperture, a constant f\/2.8 maximum aperture, internal focusing, a SSM Supersonic Wave Motor for quiet operation, and 17 elements in 13 groups optical layout.<\/p>\n
