There are a lot of great choices but you want to make sure you select the best choice for your needs as a photographer and your current budget. Picking out the right camera for you can be stressful. It\u2019s a big financial investment and, if you do this for a living, it can be an essential decision for your livelihood. There are so many different considerations that range from budget to size to features. So, which <strong>Canon mirrorless camera<\/strong> is right for you?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are already in the Canon family, remember that the new mirrorless cameras can work perfectly with your current EF lenses using a (relatively) inexpensive adapter. As you make your upgrade, keeping with Canon may make the most sense. You&#039;ve decided upon a mirrorless camera and have decided to go with Canon. Congrats! But now the big question is, which camera is right for you? What criteria should you be looking out for? Today we are looking at these cameras: Canon R3 https:\/\/adorama.rfvk.net\/rnkyXy Canon R5 https:\/\/adorama.rfvk.net\/JxzdE Canon R6 II https:\/\/adorama.rfvk.net\/5b2Gn3 Canon R7 https:\/\/adorama.rfvk.net\/P0JgbN Canon R https:\/\/adorama.rfvk.net\/Q14Ra For most of us, the top considerations are budget, megapixels, focus, frame rate, video, and special considerations. Budget: With budget considerations, is it about having the best or simply the best for your money. Megapixels: All of these cameras have sufficient megapixels for most portrait photography, with all of them having 24 megapixels or more. If, however, you need to be able to blow up prints VERY large then you may consider the R5 at 45 megapixels. Or perhaps you tend to shoot a bit wider and then need to crop in, then higher megapixels would be a good choice. Focus: All of these cameras have face and eye tracking and great focus options, so I think you are good to go. The R3 will be by far the fastest tracking feature for things like sports. The EOS R is the OG Canon mirrorless camera, and while still a great camera it definitely has first generous tech around its focus\u2013 that&#039;s the reason I\u2019d probably suggest going with one of the other choices on this list unless you can get a great deal on a used one. Frame Rate: Do you shoot action? Perhaps you shoot dance, or athlete in motion, or maybe add high school sports games to your high school senior photography business. Then a high frame rate will matter. For most other portraiture, even if your subjects are in motion, all of these cameras will have a high enough frame rate to capture your needs. The R3 and R6 Mark II both beat out the other cameras when it comes to this feature. Specialty: There are other things to look at like battery life, focus bracketing features, or what other specialty needs do you have? For example, how important is weight to you? Do you need 8K video? My overall verdict: For a portrait photographer, I\u2019d recommend the Canon R5. It\u2019s got the most megapixels, which is great for large prints. Plus it has tons of focus points making it lightning-fast for eye-tracking with subjects. If that&#039;s a bit out of budget the Canon R6 Mark II still gives you a lot of those great features but with more than &#36;1000 of savings as long as you are willing to sacrifice megapixels and 8k video. If budget is your biggest consideration, the R7 is a great \u2018middle ground\u2019 for megapixels and frame rate and is around another &#36;1000 less expensive than the R6 MarkII. If you choose the R7, however, because it is a crop sensor you won\u2019t have as much dynamic range or high ISO capabilities, which may not be important for standard portraits. And lastly, for portrait photographers who need to capture motion, perhaps you shoot dance, sports, or hobbyist wildlife then the R3 is great if you have no financial sensitivities, or the R6 Mark II for a very capable option at half the price (and probably a better fit for most of us). It enables any user with a convenience that DSLR cameras just can&#8217;t match. With mirrorless cameras, you get wireless image transfer and remote shooting. Without mirrors in the camera, photographers can easily take rapid shots, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electronic Viewfinder<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The electronic viewfinder allows you to preview the exposure in real time through your camera. No need to check the shot after or &#8220;chimp&#8221; to see if you got it right. In fact, features like face and eye tracking are a life-saver. The camera finds the eye closest to the camera and keeps it in focus. This allows me to hit focus more accurately. I can go into auto-pilot when it comes to focus and instead pay more attention to things like pose, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/alc\/basic-photography-composition-techniques\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">composition<\/a>, and expression. Furthermore, I can shoot super wide apertures without fear of a high number of misses. For example, I now feel confident to shoot my <\/span><a class=\"trackEvent action\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/car8512.html\" data-action=\"plpAnalyticsService\" data-prevent-default=\"false\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/car8512.html\" data-trackdata=\"listing page, title, car8512\">Canon RF 85mm f\/1.2 L USM Lens<\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wide open at F1.2. This is something I would have shied away from in the past.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certainly there are other benefits. The new RF Canon mirrorless lens designs often allow the lenses to weigh less, or to be sharper. The cameras are great in low-light focusing, which is important if you shoot events or weddings. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Type of Photographer Are You?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When deciding on the right Canon mirrorless camera for you, it&#8217;s important to consider what type of photographer you are. Cameras are often designed with three kinds of users in mind: consumers, prosumers, and professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of what each type means and what you might look for in a camera:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Photographer Type<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Description<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Camera Features to Look For<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Consumer<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">These are casual photographers, often new to photography. They need cameras with top-tier performance.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">&#8211; Highest resolution<br>&#8211; Fastest focus<br>&#8211; Rugged build<br>&#8211; Extensive manual controls<br>&#8211; Professional-grade lenses<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><b>Selection\u00a0Criteria<\/b> for Canon Mirrorless Cameras<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that you are ready to get a mirrorless camera and have decided to go with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/brands\/Canon\">Canon,<\/a>&nbsp;which one should you buy? Take a serious look at your budget, profit, and needs for the way you shoot. The &#8220;best&#8221; is not always necessary to do a fantastic job for you.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Megapixels<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of these cameras have sufficient megapixels for most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/alc\/creative-portrait-photography-ideas-tips-and-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">portrait photography<\/a>, with all of them having 24 megapixels or more. If, however,&nbsp; you need to be able to blow up prints very large, then you may want to consider the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/car5.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canon R5<\/a> with 45 megapixels. Perhaps you tend to shoot a bit wider and then need to crop in, then higher megapixels would be a good choice. Therefore, I\u2019d suggest going with one of the other choices on this list unless you can get a great deal on a used one.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Frame Rate<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do you shoot action? Perhaps you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adorama.com\/alc\/dance-photography-ideas-tips-and-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shoot dance<\/a> or an athlete in motion? Or maybe you want to add high school sports games to your high school senior photography business? If so, then a high frame rate will matter. Maybe you want this capability for shooting weddings to get the bouquet toss or some other action-oriented moment. For example, you may consider battery life, focus bracketing features, or other specialty needs.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, how important is weight to you? Do you have physical limitations like a bad back or carpal tunnel? Or do you just need the lightest weight option to reduce exhaustion on long days?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What about video features?
