Official Rules

  1. Contest Description

    Cover Shot (the “Challenge”) is a photography contest produced by Adorama Inc. (the “Producer”) and intended for initial exhibition on the Adorama Instagram feed found at @adorama (the “Instagram Venue”). The theme is fashion photography. Participating contestants (the “Contestants”) will compete for prizes in a photography contest hosted by the Producer, judged by the esteemed professional photographer Nigel Barker and featuring prizes of equipment by Fujifilm (the “Sponsor”) and others.

  2. Competition Overview

    The contest is open to anyone age eighteen or older and resident in the fifty states of the United States. Further information on the Challenge, including details, tips and suggestions, will be available on the Instagram Venue starting August 14, 2019. Up to Five semi-finalists will be selected by Mr. Barker and Producer for the judging of the winning entry by Mr. Barker, who will announce the winner during a live feed on the Instagram Venue.

  3. How to Submit Entries

    To qualify to submit an image, you must maintain a valid Instagram feed for the duration of the Challenge. Once you submit your entry, for the duration of the Challenge, you must be a follower of, Producer, Mr. Barker and Sponsor on Instagram at the Instagram Venue (@adorama) and @nigelbarker, respectively. You must also include the following hashtags in the caption: #TPCcovershot and #TopPhotographer. Contestants with private Instagram accounts must make their accounts public for the duration of the Challenge in order for their photograph to be seen and judged. All submissions must follow all rules and procedures of Instagram.

    To identify your image as a Challenge submission, use hashtag #TPCcovershot.

    File Format and Size: Your image may be submitted in either JPG or PNG format, with a maximum file size and other technical requirements for upload of content as provided under the rules of Instagram. Proof of copyright ownership by Contestant must be provided if requested at any time by Producer. Photographs may have been previously published.

    LIMIT: ONE IMAGE PER CONTESTANT.

    • Submission Period: from 1P.M. August 14 through 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time, September 13, 2019
    • Announcement of Winner: 12:00 P.M. Eastern Time, September 18, 2019
    • Guest Host: Roxy Rodriguez
    • Prize: a selection of Fujifilm photographic products, including Fujifim X-T3 APS-C mirrorless system camera with Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f2.8 zoom lens; Fujifilm XF 56mm f1.2 fast prime lens; Fujifim XF 23mm f2.0 lens; also including: extra battery, SanDisk memory card; Profoto B10 AirTTL Off Camera Flash Head and Continuous Light, Profoto Air Remote TTL-F for Fujifilm. Approximate retail value: $5,000+.
    • Judging:
      Judging will be based on the following criteria, each of which will count in approximately equal degrees: originality of expression, composition, lighting, and visual and emotional impact.

      Between September 13 and September 17, 2019, the winners of the contestants will be contacted by Instagram Direct Message to alert them that they are semi-finalists. During the live feed of the announcement of the winner, Mr. Barker will critique the submissions of the semi-finalists and then name the winner. The winner will be linked in to participate in the live feed through his or her Instagram account. Participation is encouraged but not required to receive the prize. Upon completion of the Challenge, Mr. Barker will post the winning image on his personal Instagram feed, @nigelbarker. The winner will be invited for an interview to be posted on the Adorama Learning Center at www.adorama.com/alc.

  4. Participation, Limitations and Prize Substitution

    By participating in the Challenge, each Contestant agrees that all decisions regarding the Challenge, including, but not limited to, these rules, judging criteria and selection of semi-finalists and winners, are at the sole discretion of the Producer and are final in all respects. The Producer reserves the right to disqualify any submitting or winning Contestant and to overrule Mr. Barker in any instance in which the Producer comes to believe, in its reasonable discretion, that these rules or Instagram rules shall have been violated or that fairness or the integrity of the Challenge were compromised. The interpretation and implementation of all rules is at the sole discretion of the Producer. Failure to comply with any rules, as interpreted by the Producer, may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of the Producer.

    Your entry and other materials submitted by you must be original and may not infringe upon the copyright, privacy rights or other rights of any third party. Nudity, sexual situations or suggestions, violence, or any expression or implication of disparagement of, or hostility to, any person, entity or group are not permitted in any entry or accompanying description.

    All prizes will be awarded. There will be no cash alternative or substitution of prizes except at the discretion of Producer, in which case prizes of comparable design and value shall be substituted. The Producer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, postpone, delay, suspend, or terminate the Challenge in whole or in part should conduct as envisioned in these rules become impossible or impracticable or in the event of force majeure or material change in circumstances.

  5. Taxes

    The winner is responsible for all applicable taxes and will be required by the Producer to complete tax forms, including, without limitation, IRS Form 1099, prior to delivery of any prize.
