Audio-Technica Adjustable Wooden Clip-on Headphones

These headphones are definitely a step up over the ear-buds provided with iPhones or iPods. I bought them because I find no ear buds fit me comfortably; all seem to fall out. The highs of these are very good--good spacial depth/soundstage and clarity. The bass however is quite weak--even non-existent. They do not screen out airplane noise either. But they are easy to put on, come with an easy to use case, and are light and compact for travel. It may be unfair to compare these with the sound I am used to (Sennheiser 800s), but ultimately I am left wanting. At times I find the sound even fatiguing--too many highs, too little balance. Okay, not $1000 headphones, but what could I expect for the price?

I'm a TV editor and don't like over the typical head studio headphones, I thought this would be the most pro clip-on equivalent to those. While the sound is great and the product looks nice, it actually makes my ears bend out in a weird way (as the clips do not sit snug against the skull, instead they push/fall out against the ear). Additionally, when plugged into my nano (clipped to my waistband) -- the built-in cord (its about 1.5 feet long) is a few inches too short -- I can barely turn my head without it pulling off. Also, I would have love to put the nano in my pant's pocket, but it is about 6 inches too short for that). So either way, instead of just having the short elegant cord, I have to add the 3 foot long extender (a bit inelegant -- with all that extra cable) just for those couple inches. I'm about 5' 11" -- so if you're 5'8" (or under) it would probably be OK. But all that said, the sound is good!

FINALLY, the perfect headphones for me! They are super lightweight, extremely comfortable and the best sounding headphones I have ever owned. I use them at work and travel and relaxing. I can't speak to the durability as I've only been using them about two weeks - in using them so far, I think they will hold up well as long as I take proper care of them. These are not the kind of headphones that you can just shove into your pocket, a little extra care in storage is necessary - but SO WORTH IT! Add in the unique style = perfect headphones for me ... super happy :-D

Make sure you burn in before using. Some highs get gets mixed up with lows and doesn't sound right.
