This is the first backdrop I've ever bought as I'm more of a natural light shooter. However, I had an idea for a portrait of a family about to welcome their newest addition and I needed a black backdrop for it. I simply placed the backdrop over a buffet/hutch with pillows on the top to hold it in place. Then, using only one off-camera flash fired through a soft box, a gold reflector, and some natural light coming through a nearby window, this backdrop allowed me to create the emphasis with the light exactly where I wanted. As long as you understand the most basic of flash photography (i.e. shutter speed = background exposure / aperture = flash exposure), then you'll be able to create the images you want using this!

I ordered the regular white Muslin back drop and the Black Muslin back drop and the only difference between the two is price and a label that says heavy. The texture is the same and I put each a weight scale and they weigh the same. I feel ripped off.

Used this for basketball team photos. I placed a muslin backdrop underneath the black cloth because it was a little thin. Worked out fine this way.

Thick enough fabric to not be see-through when lit. Not too wrinkly. Seems fairly heavy duty. Decent quality for price paid.

Good background for the price. Be careful with the lighting behind the background as is will show through. We have had to add a canvas background behind it when in certain situations. If you watch your lighting, this is a very good background. We use this background mainly for in home portraits and baby shoots.

Nice consistent black throughout although a few specs of a lighter gray are woven into the material. Dye didin't make even coverage? Easily taken out in post.

Very nice background. Good coloring in photos. Always pay the little extra and get the heavy weight backgrounds, it's worth it!

The muslin drape is reasonably heavy and gives a very good output. Color is consistent and deep black. However, it has to be steam ironed before use to remove major wrinkles. Also subject should not be very close to the background to avoid minor wrinkles appearing in the photos.

Nice wide pocket for attaching to the support system. I can't imagine trying to attach something this heavy using a set of clamps. Good rich black color.

I was not too happy with quality. I expected something a bit thicker. It does the job though and turns out true black backgrounds.
