Ingenious design.
This tripod is exactly what they say it is, flat to pack, small and light,but it is also quite sturdy especially if you don't open the last section of the legs. The legs open and close smoothly with just a twist of the locks but only spread to one position. Obviously you have to give up something to have it so travel friendly. I have only given it four stars because I haven't used it in the field yet. I'll update the review when I get back fom my upcoming trip.

A great tripod especially for air travel
I use this tripod for taking macro video of insects with my Canon XH20. It is rock solid, light and easy to carry, goes low and high, and folds down flat and small enough to fit in a regular size suitcase. Macro not only magnifies the object (insects and spiders in my case) but also any camera shake. This tripod eliminates the shake!!! What more can you ask for?

Backpacking & Vacationing Tripod
I was looking for a tripod that had the following characteristics: Lightweight for extended backpacking and vacation trips; Sturdy so it can hold at least 5.5 lbs of camera and lens (DSLR Camera & 70-200 lens), Tall enough that I'm not having to lay on the ground (unless I want to) and Compact so it can easily go into a traditional backpack.
This tripod (w/ballhead) meets all of those requirements. Note, it isn't as sturdy as my regular tripod which can be a bit bothersome in high winds or when taking night photography. But, life is full of compromises!

Small and Portable
I wanted a small compact tripod for when I didn't want to carry my larger one. It fits that bill. When FULLY extended the last legs are pretty small in diameter and the stability factor of the tripod drops dramatically (I have a Canon50D with 24-105 lens). But if you don't use the last little legs it does the job. I wouldn't use this as my primary tripod, but for travel when you don't want bulk it works great. It is not as flexible as the Travel Angels, but it is much more compact.
