still getting used to this lens. The aperture is manual on the lens itself and the focus is manual also. The focus is difficult for me to gauge as there are no alignments within the lens to let you know if the subject is in focus or not - I wear glasses which makes it difficult for me.

Great value and optical quality. Capable of taking incredibly sharp images or providing a huge depth of field. The focus ring is very smooth. It's a great lens for landscapes and night sky shots. Metering and focus confirmation work just fine on a 7100 with the non-cpu lens data set to 15mm. I do have three complaints, but all three are pretty minor and I understood the first two before purchasing it. First, you can't use filters on it. Second, the mounting alignment dot is on the back of the lens not the side, so it takes a bit of fidgeting to get it attached. Last, the focus stops just past infinity, which is unfortunate for sky photography; this isn't a huge issue, it just takes a bit more care to get shots right.

I have only used it for wide-field astrophotography, and it is a very good lens for that purpose. I have been able to get very good images in the f/2.8 to f/4 range. I start at infinity focus and usually have to make only slight adjustments from there. The edge distortion is normal for a lens like this, but it can be easily corrected in post. I imagine it would be a very good real estate or landscape lens as well. It simply can't be beat for the price.
