Featuring the best ND Traction frame yet with SCHOTT B270 glass made in Germany, the x3 ND 3-stop and 6-stop's are the flagship ND filter for the working professional. Available in either 3-stop or 6-stop densities, both X3 ND filters feature state-of-the-art 16-Layer Multi-Resistant Coating, nanotec nano coating layers, and an easy to grip 3.2mm weather-sealed and CNC machined traction frame. And it's double-threaded to be 100% compatible with all your existing filters and lens caps.
Unparalleled Image Quality.
State-of-the-art 16-layer Multi-Resistant Coating process hardens both optical surfaces, increases light transmission, reduces reflections and achieves true color neutrality while maximizing contrast fidelity.
The forefront of Nano Coatings built into both sides.
Breakthrough nanotec Nano Coating layer repels dirt, water and other elements by beading rather than absorbing, making it easier (and faster) than ever to clean.
A breakthrough design that has traction.
In addition to featuring the highest resolving optics for today's highest quality lenses, Breakthrough wanted to create a filter that was thinner and therefore lighter, but at the same time increase its functionality and its durability.
Despite the early tooling challenges during the prototype phase, and even though it was quite a bit more expensive to manufacture, the feedback that Breakthrough got from photographers was overwhelm ing - brass traction frames are better than aluminum ones, and are magnitudes more effective than the standard flat black frames.
Full traction texture around the entire circumference of the x3 makes it easier than ever to get off and on securely. Not only did Breakthrough want to improve the design to make it easier and simply more practical, but they also wanted to take the materials to the next level as well.
The x3 is machined from brass, which is stronger than aluminum, binds and jams less on lenses and with other filters (or step-up rings) and it just provides a more sturdy and solid feel. But it's also incredibly lightweight and durable.
Less becomes more.
x3's ultra-slim and double-threaded 3.2mm Traction Frame eliminates vigenetting on full-frame wide-angle setups. This allows for easy filter stacking and lens caps actually stay on.
Double-Threaded & Laser Engraved.
The x3 features a 3.2mm double-threaded traction frame, which means it'll accept all your filters and lens caps just fine.
Laser engraved lettering in the x3 Traction frame ensure that the lettering won't ever fade or come off after consistent (even daily) use in the field. Each X3 Traction frame is also engraved with a unique serial number so that Breakthrough can associate this filter to you, personally. It also eliminates all copies, as they can't activate a made up serial number.
When you activate your 25 Year Ironclad Guarantee, Breakthrough associates your x3 serial number to you, so any future discussions on this unique filter are tracked, issues recorded and all that stuff which goes into future product design.
Weather-sealed durability.
If you want to ensure that your lens maintains out-of-box optical performance for as long as possible, Canon, Nikon and Sony recommend protective filters for the purpose of completing a lens weather-seal. Without a filter, the lens is not dust or water resistant, as Canon states on page 2 of their lens user manuals.
