Review Summary

I have been a projector fanatic for over 20 years and unlike Bono I have finally found what I?ve been looking for. I love the LCOS projectors from Canon, this is my third. Canon LCOS, replaced the first one under warranty when the array blew after a few years of heavy use. I watch 6-8 hours a day, everyday. After having the 2nd WUX4000 damaged from shipping to Canon they kindly upgraded me to the WUX7000Z and I couldn?t be happier. I had replaced so many bulbs over the years the bulb connector had come loose inside and needed to go back to the shop in Toronto to repair. The projector lens is perfect for my 30 foot throw distance and 17 foot ceiling so the upgrade required a brand new lens with the same parameters. The picture is so bright I had to lower the light source mode to Quiet 1 and that doubles the lasers life, a pleasant, unexpected benefit. It?s such a brute and I no longer having to climb a ladder every 6 months to replace a dead bulb, which has made my wife a convert as well, as I?m 63 now. The LCOS Canon projectors have been in our place for over 10 years and this WUX7000Z has been in for well over a year and I could not be happier. Canon has been phenomenal with their support and replacement, can?t say enough about them, buying direct from them has been a surprise bonus for sure. The ability to access the projector through the internet and wireless features are all first class. I use Cat5 and HDBaseT to send the pictures because of the distance from the source.Orignally I used an HDMI to cat5 converter and then cat5 to HDMI to convert the signal back at the source. Now it?s simply a cat 5 cable directly into the projector from a HDMI switcher at the source. The biggest surprise, other than the eye popping picture is how quiet it runs. When it first powers up you can hear a slight hum, but after 20 seconds you cannot hear it at all. That?s the biggest surprise, even during dead silence in the movie the room is absolutely quiet. For those audiophiles, who look for the same performance in the sound equipment here is the solution. It?s not a 4k projector but if the signal is 4k it?s better than the UHD signal so it makes a difference so we look for them when we can, everyone that watches already thinks it?s is 4k. Just wish the 4k laser wasn?t the price of a car or I would have bought it, but to be honest at this point I don?t see any improvement is required. When I see professional projector installations even my wife says ours looks clearer and brighter, than you Canon.

Widescreen graphics, text and other visual content from laptops and desktop computers are shown in accurate proportions from edge to edge with sharp detail.
Laser Light Source Provides Longevity, Versatile Installation and a Wide Color Range
The projector's laser light source provides up to 20,000 hours in standard use of continuous, reliable, high-quality projection. The hours of operation can be nearly doubled when utilizing the Long Duration modes to up to 20 times longer than a conventional lamp's life. Operation is virtually maintenance-free with minimal downtime, as the light source doesn't require routine replacement. This keeps running costs relatively low when looking at the total life of the product - a key consideration for challenging and hard-to-reach installations.
LCOS Technology with AISYS-enhancement
The exceptional imaging performance of the projector starts with Canon's proprietary AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) Optical Engine. This engine utilizes advanced light management technology to maximize the contrast and brightness benefits of the projector's LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) display panels, which deliver superior reflectivity and durability while accomplishing high luminance. The result is highly detailed, seamless, ultra-sharp image projection in virtually any environment.
High Dynamic Range (HDR)
The projector supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) exhibiting bright highlights and deep blacks for a wider dynamic range. The wider dynamic range expands the contrast and the color, both extremely important factors when it comes to the image. This provides an incredible viewing experience.
Multiple Image Modes including DICOM Simulation Mode for Optimal Image Quality Reproduction
The projector includes pre-set Image Modes and additional customizable Image Modes to suit a wide range of user preferences and projection environments.
Multiple Image Modes
Image Modes provide different variations of color reproduction characteristics suitable for the image type and projection environment. They include:
Standard

By inserting extra frames to video content, motion blur is reduced and the clarity of graphics and text on fast-moving objects is preserved. Three different modes (Strong, Low and Off) are included for flexibility, with each depending on the level of movement and type of video content.
Network Management including PJLink, Extron XTP, Crestron and AMX Device Discovery
Compatibility with Crestron, Extron XTP and AMX Device Discovery helps ensure seamless integration into many systems or infrastructures and smooth network management. Support for PJLink also makes it possible to control and monitor the projector over a network - this feature is ideal for observing lamp hours, usage and much more.
Built-in Real-time Clock
The built-in Real-time Clock allows scheduling of specific operations such as set startup and shutdown at chosen times. This helps to manage power consumption by creating operating schedules which can result in extended projection life. For convenience, Real-time Clock settings can be accessed via the projector's own user-friendly graphical interface.
