The Diamond Multimedia VC500 USB 2.0 Video & Audio Capture Device for Mac works with the included software to capture and transfer video and audio (or still images) from various devices to a Mac, where the data can be recorded and stored. You can record in NTSC or PAL formats. The USB end of the device connects into the Mac;

The other end features Composite video and audio and S-Video connectors which can be hooked up to almost all types of video devices, including TVs, cameras, DVDs, video game consoles and VCRs. The included software pulls up on the Mac and lets you know when to begin capture, at which point you would just need to press a button on the capture device and whatever's playing on the connected video device will be captured and transferred to the Mac.

The data gets captured as it's being played. Once you've got it on the Mac, you can burn to a DVD or publish to YouTube directly from the software, or you can export to an editing system. The software is called VideoGlide and alternative to video and audio it can be set up to capture still images.
