I didn't see any reviews for this model so I thought I'd drop in my 2 cents. First, this is a great tripod. It's very well made and sturdy. You could easily mount a DSLR with a battery grip and heavy lens without any issues. The legs seem a little stiff to move, but the kit comes with a hex wrench so everything is easy to adjust. It's nice and tall too and even fully extended, your camera will remain stable. When I say well made, the unit is all metal construction and the fittings are all well machined and made for a long serviceable life. The tripod weight is average, not too heavy that it will be a problem for field use, but if you are traveling or hiking, you might want to choose a more compact tripod for that purpose. If you using this in a studio or for weddings and events, its light enough to work well for those purposes. The kit comes with a ball head included, and as ball heads go, this one isn't the top of the line, but is perfectly useful as is for a starter head. The only real complaint I have about the ball head is the fact that it only has one release, which releases the ball as well as loosens the panning motion. It's certainly not meant for video because your camera will move if you want to pan! But of course, most ball heads aren't for video anyway, but I thought I'd just mention this for those who want to do panos and pano stitching. But the ball head could be easily replaced and for a beginner, this is a perfectly fine ball head. The head aside, this was a great purchase and is a nice sturdy and well built tripod. It's a quality product for the price point and can easily compete with some of the more expensive models out there. I purchased the carrying case as well, which is well made and padded. It's big enough to use with the ball head included (some cases aren't made to take into account the additional height of the ball head). The case easily fit this tripod as well as my separate mono-pod, so they both tuck away into one case, which makes storage and retrieval easier. I would recommend the Cullman line. They are very well made products.
