Review Summary
The E-films Solid State Device Recording System e-HDRM-SSD is optimized to give any Sony EX camera user the ability to record Full HD directly to a Solid State Device (SSD) from their camera. Insert the Expresscard into a free slot on the camera, mount the e-HDRMSSD unit on the camera handle, plug the Expresscard cable into the e-HDRSSD and press record.
The unit consists of a custom made Expresscard and cable, quick release camera handle mounting system and a SSD enclosure. Mounting the unit to the camera takes seconds and it is ready to record, 5 hours on EX1 and EX3 and for all other cameras, (EX1R, PMW-320, PMW-350, PMW-500, F3), the size of the HDD attached determines the record time, (e.g. 500GB will record 30hrs of 1920x1080 - 35Mb/Full HD). Once recording has finished, the unit can be attached to the edit station via it's own USB2.0 or high speed e-SATA II connectors.
There is no need to download the footage for editing, you can edit directly off the unit. The camera will swap to and from SxS or E-films - MxR, e-LCR and MxR Extreme cards and even swap to another e-HDRM-HDD, for very long recording projects. Some users prefer to complete the project on the e-HDRM and replace the SSD unit when finished, so they can archive the complete project.
