Yep, they have little vents, prefer the 55W.

I did a quick custom white balance on my D300 and get great skin tone. Can't beat the price.

I compared this 55 watt CFL to an Alzo 45 watt, both at 5,500 Kelvin. For video in a controlled environment of exact conditions the FlashPoint 55 watt is a full third stop less light output than the Alzo 45 watt. So this begs the obvious question is, how is this possible if the Flashpoint is actually 55 watts? The answer is just as obvious, it isn't, in fact it is closer to 35 watts.

I have three "Flashpoint Cool Light 4, 16" Reflector w/Four 55w Fluorescent Bulbs. Since there might be an occasion when a bulb might burn out, I wanted to stock spares. I am very happy with the product and will continue to use lights for my product photography. They are super cool and don't heat up the area and I don't have to worry about touching one and getting a burn. I have shown them to friends and they are amazed with my choice of lighting.

I got these in Adorama's 16" reflector. For a little background, I first purchased (4) Alzo Digital 45W CFL's. Color was good, they all worked, but sound of all of them was horrible buzz for turning on, never mind video. In the same fixture these VS Wescott 50W produced the same measurable light amount and seemed to be great quality of light but without the noise. Four of these light together, producing no noise ear-to-them than one Altzo Digital ear close enough for the light provide light: range of a few to several feet away, pointed towards bulb in a reflector that amplifies the noise. PS two of the four bulbs now produce a tiny bit of noise listening close enough, but I broke the housings but not the bulbs by 16" lamp falling into wall accident and had to snap them back together, the tube stems are now not as tight as they were. Instructional tip: always with gentle torque screw from the base, not the folded tube so you don't break it on installation.

I'm planning a portrait shoot for members of my community. I needed to upgrade my photoflood bulbs, some of which are 15 years old but still functional. I had to purchase socket extenders to use these bulbs with my reflectors and sockets. Decided to purchase new sockets to use with my umbrellas.
