I've seen wedding photographers who use an LED video light on a light stand and shoot through a small, translucent umbrella. It's best when light is low and there is some ambient lighting in the background. I had a November 9 wedding at sunset (outdoors) and thought it would be great to try out. First, I would encourage you to make sure all of the accessories are included (I returned mine because the battery charger wasn't included and - keep reading - it wasn't bright enough for my application). Second, the light is probably a great video light. Somewhere I saw that the light is the equivalent of about a 200 watt light bulb and that sounds about right. Yet, the LED's have significant dispersion/scatter so I wonder if this is the same as 200w bulb. I like the color adjustment: that's great. Granted, you are only using about 160 of the LED's at any given time, but being able to change the color tone is nice. I mounted it on a light stand with a shoot-thru umbrella using the equivalent of SKU: POUM4. I used the light for a shot or two in the dark. The great thing was being able to see the shot during composition. However, it just wasn't bright enough for what I need -- I would probably need something about twice as bright as this to be functional. If I was to use a speedlight in the same setup I have the hassle of focusing in the dark, but, that aside, the speedlight would give me all of the light I need. My assistant was thinking we should try the light without an umbrella - that would have helped but then the light would (obviously) be harsher. Perhaps a few of these shooting through an umbrella? Maybe as the price comes down and the LED's are brighter it would work. In the mean time, I'll be using a speedlight shooting through an umbrella.

Useful for indoor photography, Also good for interview photography, This light is has a long ratio to the highth, so I need to turn the light around when doing a vertical shot. Diffuser is a bit loose.

I got these lights for our trip to Latin America, thinking it will be great to have some extra lights that we could take any where in case of an unexpected interview. The lights are very light and easy to use, the balance color temperature is suitable for HD Video, unfortunately the construction is very poor, the plastic clips that hold the diffuser to the front of the lights are weak and they almost broke on the second time we used them, no accident . Hey! I know that you get what you pay for, but don't take me wrong there are a lot of low budget products out there that are used by professionals all the time, and obviously they don't tell you that. The product has potential but needs improvement.
