The glass is difficult to install without trapped dust, and sometimes gives weird, Newton's-rings effects. But, it provides protection, and that's the bottom line.

I had a LCD protector with folding covers. It was a bother to use. This works great, no more having to close the covers when using the eyepiece and the coatings seem to hold down the glare and make the display more visible in bright light.
