I purchased the Hoodmag 3.0 since the original Hoodloupe has no magnification. When I use the Hoodman, I get purple fringing around highlights on the edges of the frame.. well, probably the outer 50%. Some reviews I read said that this attachment gets rid of those fringes, and makes the image better. I wasn't sure how that was possible since the main lens of the Hoodman stays where it is. My logic was correct. Not only does the Hoodmag 3.0 *not* improve the image, it makes it worse. Granted, the purple fringing is gone, but when using the Hoodmag 3.0 on the Hoodman loupe, the outer 50% of the frame is horrible to view. Looking at the center of the image is like having tunnel vision. Sadly, I can't tell a 3.0x magnification of the LCD either. Perhaps 2x.. or 1.5x.. but not 3. With, and without, the LCD looks the same to me, aside from the tunnel vision effect you get with the awful blurry edges. Look instead for the Varavon Loupe, or if you really want to drop the bucks, the Zacuto Z-Finder... I suppose they're the market leader for a reason.

The HoodMAG 3.0 is designed to fit where the original HoodLoupe 3.0 eyecup was installed. Remove your original HoodLoupe rubber eyecup by pulling the low profile eyecup up and off of your HoodLoupe. Mount new HoodMAG by pushing it over viewing end of HoodLoupe. HoodMAG has a tighter fit than the original eyecup and will stay in place once mounted.
The slip ring mounted within your HoodMAG eyecup will allow diopter adjustment without rotating the eyecup. Diopter adjustment remains the same, just twist the HoodLoupe viewing end in or out to set for your vision.
