tl;dr - Can't tell that it's not brand new. Saved $50. Excellent camera. You can go and look at the reviews on the brand new S95 to see what an excellent little camera this is. I'm not going to repeat what's said there, suffice it to say that the image quality & low-light performance have pleasantly surprised me, even after poring over reviews, and the image stabilisation is awesome - i can take 1/10" exposure shots handheld and get sharp results. What I will talk about is that I can't tell the difference between this camera and a brand new example. In short, there isn't one. The 'refurbished' quality really is 'as new', as the Adorama customer support assured me it would be. The *only* giveaway is that it comes in a plain white box, rather than fancy packaging, but that would only go straight into the recycling anyway! There are no scratches, no wear, no marks on the LCD, no blemish on the lens, there is nothing I can find fault with. After extensive testing and examination, I can't find any dead/hot pixels, the image sharpness and focus are spot on, and physically the camera is perfect, as far as I can tell. If you're looking to buy an S95 (and really, why shouldn't you be?) then save yourself $50 and buy the refurb. It's even been suggested that as each and every one of the refurbished cameras has been hand checked, reasembled and corrected, the quality might even be better than the normal production run. Certainly you're much less likely to get a 'lemon', and have to exchange it.

I use a canon 50d with tripod and lens and shoot in raw-----I wanted a small compact that shoots in raw and has all the capibilities as my 50d---I found it with this wonderful camera that I can always carry-----fantastic!!!
